The Board of Management of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight-India is honoured and delighted to award the prestigious Life Time Achievement Award 2023 to Shri Doraiswamy Nagarajan, on the special occasion of World Sight Day.  This prestigious award introduced in year 2023 is bestowed on individuals to honour enduring contributions and excellence in the field of community eye care. The Life Time Achievement recognises a doyen of ophthalmology and pioneer in community eye care delivery in the country.

We take pleasure in presenting the Life Time Achievement award, as a token of our regard and respect to Shri Nagarajan’s accomplishments and to honour his colossal contribution towards reducing avoidable blindness in the country.

The Board of Management of VISION 2020: The Right to Sight-India is honoured and delighted to award the prestigious Guru Dronacharya Award 2023 to Shri RD Thulasiraj, on the special occasion of World Sight Day.  This prestigious award introduced in year 2023 is bestowed on individuals to honour excellence in the field of community eye care in the form of mentoring eye care institutions on a sustained basis covering a comprehensive set of systems, for several years.

We feel proud to recognize his accomplishments with this Award.

    Other AwardsYoung Achiever Award (#1)

VISION 2020 India introduces this award from year 2024, and aims to recognise young persons (in age group of 25-40) who have had special accomplishments in the field of eye care. The individual for this award will be selected from amongst the membership. It is understood that young achievers are not born with everything magical, it is the result of their effort, ideas, and faith that makes them successful. It is this background; the award looks to identify leaders of tomorrow today and pave a pathway to improve their leadership abilities to be able to contribute to the well-being and enhanced quality of life of patients. The award will be presented on annual basis, and be presented at annual conference.

  1. Women Lead Eye Care (#1)

VISION 2020 India introduces this award from year 2024, and aims to recognize women based on their influence, excellence, contribution as well as their commitment, in the field of eye care, especially the community ophthalmology. These are the women whose hard work already makes it clear that they are on the path to making big waves in the future as they seek out mentors, push forward new development strategies and demonstrate boldness and creativity in their professional endeavours. VISION 2020 India looks to promote the surfacing of this emerging/have already emerged level of luminaries in eye care and wishes to celebrate such outstanding leadership and achievements demonstrated by Women leaders. The award will be presented on annual basis, and be presented at annual conference.

  1. Eye Health Champions (Multiple)

VISION 2020 India introduces this award from year 2024, and is similar to Eye Health Hero award instituted by IAPB. The award aims to recognise and celebrate young and upcoming frontline staff, volunteers, support staff and more within the eye health sector. Eye Health Heroes work with passion, purpose and determination to improve peoples’ lives all over, and they are the change-makers, innovators and emerging leaders from across all areas and backgrounds in eye health. The awards will be presented on annual basis, and be presented at annual conference.
