Dhivya leads projects related to training and patient engagement at Aravind Eye Care System.

Appasamy Associates Private Limited

Mr Kannan U. V.
Mr Kannan U. V. represents eye care industry on the Board of VISION 2020 INDIA. Mr Kannan is the Executive Director at Appasamy Group of companies, where he leads the IT operations and R & D division at Puducherry. He did his Bachelors in electrical engineering at College of Engineering, Guindy and Masters in Imaging and scientific visualization at University of Utah. During graduate school, he developed various image processing, machine learning and Computational Neuroscience tools to understand the Retinal connectome. Later at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Cold spring Harbor laboratory (NY), he developed patented computational imaging techniques that enabled whole mouse brains to be imaged at cellular resolutions. This patented technique was commercialized as Certerra Inc to screen the efficacy of psychiatric drugs. He has published several journal articles, posters and a patent for the same. Currently at Appasamy, his team develops next generation diagnostic and surgical devices with emphasis on imaging.  This R&D facility also supports process improvement across the enterprise and enhancement of current products. He is also involved with technology transfers and academic collaborations.

L V Prasad Eye Institute

Dr Rohit C Khanna
Dr Rohit C Khanna represents L V Prasad Eye Institute on the Board of VISION 2020 INDIA. Dr Khanna is the Network Director at L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) as well as leads the Public Health program at LVPEI. An active participant in various working groups of the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) and World Health Organization (WHO), Dr Khanna is also the IAPB Regional Chair for the South-East Asia region. Dr Khanna has led multiple studies, including the cohort of Andhra Pradesh Eye Disease Study (APEDS) – a milestone study. He has to his credit over 150 peer-reviewed publications, is on the editorial boards of several journals, and has been awarded several prestigious research grants for his work focusing on studying the outcomes of different interventions as well as on geriatric and child eye health. A recipient of the IAPB Eye Health Leader Award and Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology's Blindness Prevention Award, Dr Khanna has vast experience in leading capacity building initiatives, and working as consultant for both national and global organizations, including IAPB and WHO.

Mr RN Mohanty
Mr RN Mohanty represents Sightsavers India on the Board of VISION 2020 INDIA. Mr Mohanty is the CEO of Sightsavers India and has spent more than three decades in the social sector with assignments involving programmes, finance, and enabling fundraising for various social and economic causes. RN, as he is fondly addressed by his peers, has held leadership positions at various development sector organisations. A key strategist, RN is a realist in spearheading new initiatives. Prior to helming operations at Sightsavers India, RN worked with Care India as its Chief Operating Officer. A Master’s degree holder in Economics, he has also done his Post Graduation in Human Resource Management. Regarded as a visionary for tomorrow, RN during his higher studies days was inspired to join the international development field after looking at the impact of poverty on people. Health and education are key areas wherein he would like to bring about a change. For Sightsavers India, his immediate vision is of transforming 100 districts in the country in the arena of eye health and disability. He brings to the table a rich experience of strengthening and managing teams and raising their capabilities.

Mr. Sony Varghese Thomas
Sony Varghese Thomas represents CBM on the Board of VISION 2020 INDIA. Mr Sony is the Executive Director - CBM India Trust. He brings over 30 years of work experience of which he spent several years in leadership positions in the corporate world before shifting to the development sector. He is a recognized leader in the FMCG & consumer durable market, he was the Vice President - Business Head for Nokia Mobile phones for India for close to 14 years as part of HCL Infosystems, prior to which he managed brands like Timex Watches, Sundrop edible oil of ITC Ltd, and Singer India Ltd.  He moved to World Vision India in 2014 as Group Director for Resource Mobilisation & Public Engagement until mid 2023. Sony has an MBA from Symbiosis University in Pune and Management Development Certification from IIM Ahmedabad and B.Com from Madras University.
Dr Rishi Raj Borah

Dr Rishi Raj Borah
Dr Rishi Raj Borah represents Orbis India on the board of VISION 2020 INDIA. Dr Borah has been an integral part of the Orbis journey in India. His extensive knowledge and experience in strategic, operational and core functional aspects of healthcare management, patient care, outreach, training, advocacy and community ophthalmology services brought him to Orbis in 2007. At present, he works in the capacity of Country Director – Orbis India and leads its programs in India, Indonesia and Nepal. Rishi has committed an enormous part of his life to help ensure that children across the country have a better life. With comprehensive experience in public health and healthcare management, he has worked on different community programs with UNICEF, CORDAID, and Don Bosco Institute all revolving around his love for children. Over the years, Rishi has led the India team to develop innovative, impactful and sustainable home-grown eye careinitiatives for communities across India and Nepal, impacting the lives of millions of children.

National Coordinator

Mr. Sabitra Kundu
Mr. Sabitra Kundu is the National Coordinator on the Board of VISION 2020 INDIA. Sabitra heads the Programme Development work at Mission for Vision – this job entails him to lead his team in identifying partners and stakeholders, developing appropriate programme strategies, implementation plan and ensuring that quality services benefit the community members. He is also engaged in donor relationship management. Sabitra brings with him over 17 years of professional experience including over 14 years in the eye health arena. Sabitra began his career in 2002 with Hindustan Latex Limited, a health care manufacturing company in India, as a Project Manager. In 2005, he transitioned to Sightsavers and worked in different capacities and has contributed to the development of national and global organizational policies. Sabitra brings to Mission for Vision his extensive experience in the developmental sector, specifically in the areas of eye health, disability-inclusive development and reproductive health. An ardent foodie, outside of work, Sabitra enjoys reading and traveling.

Lion GS Hora
Lion GS Hora represents Lions Club International Foundation on the Board of VISION 2020 INDIA. He is associated with SightFirst Activities of Lions Clubs International since 2005 and has served as SightFirst Coordinator for 9 years in Eastern India, MD 322 and presently is in Advisory Position. He has served as International Director on Board of the International Association of Lions Clubs representing India, South Asia and Middle East Countries. He is presently serving as Constitution Area Leaders for India and South Asia of Lions Clubs International Foundation. He is President of Siliguri Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee since 2002. He was Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry of North Bengal during 2008-10. He had been Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Siliguri Branch and Vice President of Siliguri Taxation Bar Association. He is associated with several social and business organizations and has been recognized with numerous awards at various level.
