Vision Centres opened to reach primary eye care
In quarter January – March2021, eight vision centres by our member organisations was inaugurated to provide eye care at primary level. All these centres are located in northern India. These vision centres are supported by some of our founder members.
On 4 January, Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in central India opened two vision centres in (Akodia and Bercha) Shajapur District. This was in partnership with CBM.
Sadguru Netra Chikitsalalya, Chitrakoot inaugurated its 65th vision center at Mauranipur, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. It is supported by SEVA, TOMS and on 22 March 2021 opened 3 more vision centres in Prayagraj District ( Koraon, Karchana and Meja Road) of Uttar Pradesh. This was with support of Mission for Vision and Wen Giving Foundation.
Sitapur Eye Hospital, Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh opened two vision centers at Tambaur,Sitapur district and Rampur, Mathura District. This was in collaboration with CBM and Standard Charted Bank and Sandi vision center in Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh partnering with CBM.
On 23 March Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital, Bihar opened its 12th vision center at Palliganj, Patna, Bihar. Charity Vision supported this initiative.
Gomabai Eye Hospital, Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh inaugurated their two vision centers in Pratapgarh district in neighbouring Rajasthan. This was with support from Sightsavers. Mr R N Mohanty, CEO, Sightsavers; Mr Prasanna Kumar, Ms Archana and Mr Amaresh participated in the inauguration.
