CORE ACTIVITIES   As a facilitator, Vision 2020 catalyses change by working closely with  the government on policy issues, enhancing efficiency, competence and Quality Eye care services for the nation through a range of specialized services and National linkages. It also provides a platform for consensus building and networking. Major emphasis is laid on offering a positive contribution; assisting NGO's and executing effective blindness elimination programmes. A significant feature of the Vision 2020-India in the decade ahead will be the growth of a network of national non-governmental organizations. These organizations will be made active at all levels of eye health provision Vision 2020-India holds a National Assembly and regional conferences with VISION 2020 THEMES every year.  Vision 2020-India also produces newsletters/Journals such as Community Eye Health Journal. Regular Interactions or interface, Capacity building programmes, and Information dissemination are for SHARING AND LEARNING IDEAS and ACTIONS in particular for demonstrating successful approaches leading to the development of comprehensive eye care and the prevention of blindness. VISION 2020-India works towards the implementation of VISION 2020 National Prevention of Blindness Plan of Government of India in the country especially in rural areas with primary focus on COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION, where the need for blindness prevention is most acute and where the greatest progress can be achieved. Programmatic involvement – facilitating development of modules ,models ,manuals, protocols, best practices, guidelines, norms, resource materials pertaining to thrust areas of VISION 2020 with the clear of purpose of sign posting them to the eye care fraternity.
