About National Programme For Control of Blindness

Launched in 1976 as a 100% Centrally sponsored Programme to reduce prevalence of blindness from 1.4% to 0.3%.


Resolution of the Central Council of Health & Family Welfare

“One of the basic Human Right is to see and , therefore, it is to be ensured that no citizen goes blind needlessly; or being blind does not remain so, if, by reasonable deployment of skill and recourses, his eye sight could be prevented from deteriorating and if already lost could be restored”


A National strategy for Prevention and control of Blindness was adopted which include :-
