National Representative

Dr Thomas Cherian
  • Dr Thomas Cherian is the national representative on the board of VISION 2020 INDIA.  Dr Cherian is chief of Retina – Vitreous Service department, Little Flower Hospital, Kerala joined the hospital in 1996 after completing MS (Ophthalmology). He did a long term fellowship in Retina & Vitreous from L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, and has been chief of Retina – Vitreous Service since 2001. Dr Cherian also was the Head of Ophthalmology at  Little Flower Hospital from 2004 to 2012 and has contributed significantly in developing the department and making it accessible to the needy population of Kerala. Community Eye care is as much a passion for Dr. Cherian as Retina.He is currently the Deputy Medical Superintendent of Little Flower Hospital. He also serves as the General Secretary of Kerala Society of Ophthalmic Surgeons, Governing Council Member of Vitreo Retinal Society – India, Convener, Diabetes Blindness cell, IMA Kerala State Branch, Treasurer, Eye Bank Association, Kerala and Member, Kerala Blind School Society.
Elizabeth

West Zone Representative

Ms Elizabeth Kurian
Ms Elizabeth Kurian represents the west zone states on the board of VISION 2020 INDIA. Ms Kurian is Chief Executive of Mission for Vision and has a track record spanning over 25 years in the corporate and international development sectors across organisations such as MS University of Baroda, Nielsen India and Sightsavers. She has provided transformational leadership to large programmes in complex, diverse organisational and operating environments, leading highly skilled teams in Asia and Africa. A member of various boards and advisory committees, Elizabeth has a Master’s degree in Nutrition (for which she was awarded the university first rank and gold medal), has done an Executive Programme in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, and various business and leadership programmes in the UK.

Central Zone Representative

Mr L C Janiyani
Mr L C Janiyani represents the central zone states on the board of VISION 2020 INDIA. He is the Executive Trustee, Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital, is a staunch disciple of Paramhansa Sant Hirdaram SahibJi and his successor Rev. Siddh Bhauji since year 1992. He opted superannuation from his State Bank job voluntarily in the year 2007. Since then he has dedicates his life for the service of poor and down trodden.  In his present capacity Mr Janiyani as Executive Trustee of Sewa Sadan Eye Hospital and key person of other organizations providing services to the needy.
Mr AK Arora

North Zone Representative

Mr A K Arora
Mr. Arun Arora has been associated with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital for the last 14 years as the CEO. He leads a team of doctors and professionals, delivering quality eye care to the unreached. During his tenure, he has transformed the century-old hospital into a tertiary eye care institute and has expanded its services in rural Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Mr. Arora has, for a long time, been actively involved in social issues. During his post graduate studies, he founded Prerana, a voluntary organization working amongst the urban/rural poor on issues connected with gender inequality and education for women. He is currently the Chairperson of Prerana. He also serves as director on the board of directors of Sightlife India.
Dr Jennifer

Northeast Zone Representative

Dr. Jennifer V Basaiawmoit
Dr. (Mrs.) Jennifer V Basaiawmoit represents the northeast states on the board of VISION 2020 INDIA. She is President, Society for Promotion of Eye Care & Sight is an alumni of AIIMS, she has the distinction of being the first woman ophthalmologist in Meghalaya. She founded the Society for the Promotion of Eye Care and Sight (SPECS) which established a School for the Blind in August 1992. She has held several important positions to serve in eye care and has been the Advisor, ophthalmology to the state government of Meghlaya for NPCB from 1992 – 2008 and has also served as Director of Health Services (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) in 2007.
Dr Rajesh Saini

East Zone Representative

Dr Rajesh Kumar Saini
Dr Rajesh Kumar Saini represents the east zone states on the VISION 2020 INDIA board.  Dr Saini is CEO, Siliguri Greater Lions Eye Hospital.. He moved to the field of eye care management & administration after completing M. Phil in Hospital & Health Systems Management from BITS-PILANI. He also specialized in Quality Health Care Management from AHA –Noida & Managing Human Resources for Health in India  from PHFI. Dr Saini is Life Member of Academy of Hospital Administration & Member of Asian Society of Quality in Health care. Dr Saini has more than 8 years working experience in eye care hospital management.
