Introduction:

Advocacy plays out at different levels in any initiative, essentially by creating an enabling environment, opening doors to required resources and helping in the implementation or delivery of services.

Why do we need to advocate?
  • To ensure that all in need of eye care get it
  • To ensure that the current unacceptable levels of avoidable visual impairment and blindness, is eliminated by 2020
  • To work towards the development of a sustainable, comprehensive eye care system as an integral part of the national health system that is accessible and available to all, at a cost that is affordable It is in this context that VISION 2020 INDIA together with IAPB and ICEH hosted the IAPB workshop on “CREATING AN ACTIONABLE ADVOCACY ROADMAP FOR EYE HEALTH FOR INDIA” with support from International NGOs such as CBM, ORBIS International and Sightsavers International through IAPB.
